Strength and Faith
Shelagh's Catholic upbringing and her faith are both strong influences in the line. "People ask me about the symbolism in the jewellery, I tell them it's simply, I love crosses and I love what they stand for. The design process itself, is all about trust and faith - and when they're working together, I end up creating something I am truly proud of."

Western Culture
For Shelagh, Western Culture is a way of life. Shelagh and her husband, Jeff and their 4 children live a western lifestyle raising cows, kids and horses just outside of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Jeff is an outrider with the World Professional Chuckwagon Association, and enjoys breaking and training outriding horses for competition. All the kids ride and living in the picturesque foothills of the Rocky Mountains, many trail rides happen weekly in the summer. Winter, brings lots of work in the studio and calving in the early spring.

A Passion for Designing Jewellery
Shelagh began making jewellery because she couldn't find the types of pieces she liked. She began by taking weekend classes through continuing education in Okotoks, taught by Shirley Paradis. Shelagh has also been taking classes at the Alberta College of Art & Design.

The busy life at home with 4 kids, cows, horses, dogs and of course, her husband (and his outriding habit), Shelagh has to squeeze in working in her studio in the evenings. "Silversmithing has given me a great creative outlet and 'get away' from the wild animal show in the house."

"My jewellery is not an accessory, but an expression. My pieces aren't about buying into what mass media tells you should be, but about finding a piece that speaks to the individual and echoes their personality. I believe jewellery can influence the way you feel; it can say and mean something very different to each person."
